TWD~Fresh Mango Bread
Posted by Amy Ruth | Filed under Uncategorized
The flip side of that scenario can be experienced on the blog roll for Tuesdays With Dorie because i can assure you there will be many different interpretations of Mango Bread. I can’t wait….I think it will be fun. I am especially looking forward to seeing what kind of ice cream Pinkstripes will pair with Mango Bread. Also, I hear that the Engineer Baker who is famous for mini versions of Dories recipes will have her twist on it as well.
Mango Bread is really delicious so go on over to Baking With Boys and Kelly has the recipe posted so that you can enjoy some for yourself. I followed Dorie’s recipe including the ginger and cinnamon as written. Golden raisins were included even in the face of threat from those among us who are not fans of raisins. he he I really like all the spices included and the mango provided a very nice level of moisture in the yummy little bread. The only thing I didn’t like….. Dorie do I really have to wait a whole day to enjoy? Just kidding. Dorie suggests that its better the next day. So, being the one who follows instructions. I waited and its soooo goood! Put it on your list.

WOW! That looks fantastic! Especially the texture – so dense! It looks like the perfect little pound cake. Mine was more like a cake…. how strange. I love the color and texture of your loaf. Looks like a cup of tea IS in order. Nicely done!!!

I love the styling of your pictures..wish I wasn’t so boring with just plopping the desserts on the plate and then snapping a photo. That was a great post Amy Ruth! I can always tell when I’m reading one of your posts it’s you because they’re always so fun and happy. You must be a really cool mom!

Looks lovely! Nice pics. Did a pineapple version for lack of mangos in Italy, but can’t wait to try this recipe straight up — well, minus the raisens. (which I love, but with mango?)

I LOVE LOVE LOVED this one!!! I am glad that you did too! I hope Pinkstripes made some sort of delicious mango ice cream to go with this! It went so well with vanilla ice cream as well!

So glad that everyone loved this, Amy Ruth! It was a big hit around here too. Way to face down the protestors and add those controversial raisins.
Your bread looks great!

I loved this recipe, too, and it was too hard to wait til day two. I ate a piece the first day, just for comparison, of course!

Your bread looks so tasty! I should hit the gym too to work off the mango bread sitting happily in my tummy!

Your loaf look fantastic. I’m glad you enjoyed it. It was very delicious. I had to bring it to work.
May 19th, 2009 at 10:59 am
I didn’t put raisins in mine.
Yours looks great.

Definitely agree with Dorie – it’s so much better the second day! Glad you enjoyed it!

Glad you enjoyed it!

Glad you liked the bread so much. It was tasty. I’m excited to try it with all the different fruit combos others have done. Looks like it’s a great base for almost any quick bread.

I tried it soon after it was out of the oven and I thought it was darned good. It did get a bit better after sitting though. Nice job!! It looks lovely.

one of my most favorites so far. dorie was right, this really needed a one day rest. i tried it both the first and second days and the second day was way better.
May 20th, 2009 at 6:24 am
I couldn’t wait until the second day, either! It was delicious and I can’t wait to try it today. I like the way you’ve paired it with chai–perfect combination!

Cake looks great. And with Chai tea – perfect. Wonder how this would taste with Chai spice IN the loaf.
I understand about the late spring we are having — Wonderful. Here in the Deep South we know the heat is coming, but this week has been FABULOUS. I just wish I had a wireless so I could write this outside.

Good on you for waiting a day! Most of mine was gone before it was cool. Warm fruit. Mmm…
May 20th, 2009 at 7:42 pm
It is a lovely time to be outside isn’t it?
Glad this turned out so well for you!
May 20th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
Thanks for setting a lovely morning scene; you have me excited for the 3-day weekend! The key to waiting to the next morning is baking yours at 10:00 at night like I did.
May 20th, 2009 at 9:28 pm
Well, I wish I could say that it was fabulous, but I ate all the mango instead of actually baking the bread.

Amy why did I think you were in Texas and your profile says Missouri? So the weather is currently good for you? It is colder here than I can remember ever for a spring day in May. I am so ready for summer and HOT HOT HOT sunshine!! Your mango bread looks great. We loved this.
Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Mmm, looks good. And excellent with chai, I have to agree. (Stash’s Holiday Chai is my favorite.)

Yummmmmmy! These look fantastic.

Amy,
I am pretty sure that I would not be able to wait for the next day to eat this bread! I would love your Mango Bread! Would you mind sending me a loaf (KIDDING!!) Have a great day!
May 26th, 2009 at 9:07 am
Hmmm, lazing around outside, reading? How old do the kids have to be before that happens? LOL. With my two elementary school boys, it’s more like a “relaxing game of kick ball” and then dog pile mom at the end. Of course, I wouldn’t trade them or our non-relaxing life for anything.
yada, yada, yada, this isn’t supposed to be about me
It’s supposed to be about your yummy looking mango bread. It looks so hearty and delish. I agree, the spices were nice.

Hey, sorry it took so long to get back to you regarding the dulce de leche duos – I was on a camping trip and just got in last night. If you haven’t made the cookies yet, I’d suggest not putting all too much dulce de leche between the cookies, but other than that Dorie’s recipe is pretty much perfect. If you’ve already made them, I hope they turned out wonderfully!
